Those who enjoy reading a lot will appreciate the convenience of Philips’ new screen.
E-ink screens are said to be kinder to the eyes than traditional screens when reading text. The problem with them is that you practically can’t play with them or do anything other than read.
Philips has solved the problem in its new 24B1D5600 monitor by combining an e-ink screen with a conventional monitor. It is attached to the screen in the form of a side panel where you can place any text content you want.
The combination includes a 23.8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. On the other hand, the E-Ink screen measures 13.3-inch and offers a resolution of 1200 x 1600.
Both monitors require their own power supply and also require a monitor connection to the computer. The e-ink screen connects to the computer via a USB Type-C connection.
The Philips 24B1D5600 also offers the SmartRemote application, which can be used to improve text quality. There are also buttons to zoom and pan the image.
The main display houses a number of connectivity options, including DP 1.2, a four-port USB Type-A hub, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and an audio input. There’s also a USB-C input that supports USB PD 3.0 technology for up to 90W.
The Philips 24B1D5600 is currently only available in limited markets such as China. It’s still available online, for example, for $1,599.99 (€1,465).
