AFP correspondents in the area said dozens of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, prompting the launch of airstrikes. According to him, Israel’s air defenses managed to shoot down most of the rockets.
More than 30 people have been killed in Gaza and two in Israel in recent fighting.
The conflict along the Gaza border has escalated since Israeli right-wing politician Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power late last year.
