The sequel to Avatar, which went on to become a huge hit, is currently only available for home viewing as a digital sales version. The situation changes in summer.
According to Variety magazine, Avatar: The Way of Water will be released simultaneously on both Disney+ and HBO Max’s replacement Max on June 7. The announcement applies to North America by default, but we believe the Avatar sequel will also be coming here on Disney+ in June. On the other hand, a release on HBO Max seems less likely. In Finland, Max will not replace HBO Max until next year.
An update from Avatar’s official Twitter account reveals that the release is global:

Avatar: The Way of Water is still playing in Finnish cinemas, but not for much longer, based on screening times. For example, tomorrow there will be only one performance in Helsinki.
Worldwide, the James Cameron-directed film has grossed $2.3 billion in ticket sales.
