The new Babylon 5 movie has already been shown this summer.
Babylon 5 series producer J. Michael Straczynski said about a week ago that there would be a new Babylon 5 movie. Now the name and actors of the film are clear, as well as the release date. The first promo photo is also available.
The animated film, known as Babylon 5: The Road Home, continues the sci-fi story that began in the 1990s. The synopsis of the film says the following in the original language:
“Journey across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Cosmic new discoveries about the history, purpose and meaning of the universe Along the way he reconnects with some familiar faces, while searching for revelations.
The film’s voice actors are longtime acquaintances Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurassic, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins, and Patricia Tallman. Also included are Paul Guette, Anthony Hansen, Mara Junot, Phil LaMarr, Piotr Michael, Andrew Morgado and Rebecca Reidy.
Straczynski serves as the film’s screenwriter and executive producer. The director is Matt Peters, best known for Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, among others.
The original Babylon 5 series was produced between 1993 and 1998 for 110 episodes and five production seasons. In turn, seven Babylon 5 TV movies were made. The original series is not currently available on any streaming service.
Babylon 5: The Road Home will premiere this coming summer, but the exact premiere is not yet known.
