According to Russia, German and French aircraft were about to violate the country’s airspace.

Russia said on Monday it had turned back two Western military planes flying over the Baltic Sea that tried to violate the country’s airspace. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, German P-3C Orion surveillance aircraft and French anti-submarine Atlantique 2 aircraft were involved.

– After two foreign military aircraft were taken away from the borders of the Russian Federation, Russian fighters returned safely to their base, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Defense Ministry also assured that the Russian fighter had complied with all international regulations, “and had not crossed international flight routes or come dangerously close to aircraft of foreign powers”.

In April, a Russian destroyer chased a German Navy destroyer in the Baltic Sea. Meanwhile, in March, an American unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into the Black Sea after a Russian fighter jet apparently collided with it.
