Oleksandr Khmelin has died in the Ukrainian War.

Ukrainian former ice hockey player Oleksandr Khmil has died, reports Estonian Postimiz.

A 42-year-old Ukrainian was killed in a fight near Bakhmut. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, he immediately joined the defense of his homeland.

Ukrainian Olympic athlete Vladislav Heraskevich shared a touching message on his Twitter account.

– Ukrainian hockey champion Oleksandr Khamil was killed in the fighting near Bakhmut, he said.

Khamil’s playing career lasted 18 years, after which he worked as a coach. Rest in peace, hero.

In 2006–07 Khamil won the championship of Ukraine in the ranks of Atek Kyiv. He has also won silver and bronze twice in the championship of Ukraine.

He represented the Ukrainian national team in the 2004–05 season.
