Rudolph “Rudy” Giuliani, then former US President Donald Trump’s lawyer, repeatedly sexually assaulted his staffer, claimed a lawsuit filed in New York on Monday.
Noelle Dunphy, who brought the suit, accused, among other things, of pressuring her for sex and of not paying her two million dollars in salary receipts. News agency AFP and newspaper The Washington Post, among others, reported on the matter.
Giuliani denied Dunphy’s claims through his representative.
This is not about criminal charges, but a civil lawsuit, with Dunphy seeking ten million dollars in damages.
According to AFP, the lawsuit alleges that Giuliani “frequently demanded oral sex while on speaker phone from high-profile friends and clients, including then-President Trump.”
According to the lawsuit, Giuliani specifically demanded it during the phone call because it made him “feel like Bill Clinton”, according to The Guardian newspaper.
According to the lawsuit, Giuliani began taking advantage of Dunphy early in the employment relationship and, among other things, often required her to work nude in a bikini or in shorts with an American flag.
– He made it clear that the satisfaction of his sexual demands – almost anywhere and anytime – was an absolute condition for employment.
Dunphy says he served as Giuliani’s business development director and PR consultant with an annual salary of one million dollars, but without an official employment contract, between 2019 and 2021. The suit alleges that Giuliani said that Dunphy’s pay was to wait and that her entire employment relationship was to remain secret until Giuliani’s divorce was finalized.
Giuliani served as counsel to President Trump from 2018 to 2021. In January 2021, he lost his law license in New York State and the capital Washington, after publicly reiterating his takeover of the US Capitol.
Giuliani had a better reputation as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001. He was so praised for his leadership after the al-Qaeda terrorist attack that brought down the WTC twin towers on September 11, 2001, that he became known as “America’s Mayor” and was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
