A substitute teacher was given a suspended sentence for sexually abusing her student.
A substitute teacher at a school in Lahti has received a one-year suspended prison sentence for sexually abusing a child.
The victim is a male student who was 15 years old at the time of the act. Now he is 18 years old.
Three years have passed since the incident. Crime takes place in the first half of 2020.
The convicted person was born in 1986. He was a substitute teacher in the educational institution, but he is not a teacher by profession. The man is not studying at present.
Before the time of the incident, the teacher and the student were in contact with each other through Facebook.
The girl had visited a substitute teacher’s house in Lahti several times. It offered beer to its student.
Sitting on the sofa, the teacher had touched the girl from under her clothes. When the girl found out what had happened, she left the apartment.
The girl later told the school’s psychologist and the person in charge of curatorial services about the incident, and the matter was investigated by the Hami police.
The district court of Payzat-Hume sentenced the substitute teacher on Thursday, May 11.
Both the parties were present in the court. The girl told about the events behind the scenes, so that the parties avoided eye contact.
The plaintiff inter alia stated that she was not in love with the person. On the other hand, the accused has denied having committed the crime.
The court was of the view that the act tantamounts to sexual abuse of a child. The man was sentenced roughly according to the demands of the prosecutor.
The court was prepared to hear the case behind closed doors, but when it was not required, the hearing was in public.
The probationary period of the man’s suspended sentence expires in May 2025.
The convicted person must pay his victim 2,000 euros in compensation for suffering. He must also pay around 2,000 euros of the victim’s court costs.
