The public will get to know the British ship HMS Albion from 15:00 to 18:00 on 23 May.

The British Embassy in Finland says the British Royal Navy’s amphibious assault ship HMS Albion will arrive in Helsinki next week.

HMS Albion last visited Finland in 2021. This is the Royal Navy’s first visit since Finland joined NATO.

– It’s great to come to Helsinki, especially now that Finland has joined NATO. The visit strengthens our presence in the region and is an excellent opportunity for training with partners, the ship’s Commander Marcus Hember praised in the embassy press release.

British Ambassador to Finland Theresa Bubier is also happy with the visit.

The visit of the Royal Navy flagship shows that Great Britain remains committed to maintaining the stability of the Baltic Sea region with partners and allies, the Baltic States.

HMS Albion has a crew of approximately 400 people and Wärtsilä main and auxiliary engines and Finnish expertise in the form of propellers. Due to its versatility, the platform has been lauded as the “Swiss Army Knife of the Royal Navy”.

The ship arrives in Finland from Sweden, where she participated in the Aurora 2023 exercise. After a visit to Helsinki, it will participate in NATO’s annual BALTOPS 23 exercise in the Baltic Sea.

The program also includes face-to-face training with the Finnish Navy.

It is possible for the public to get to know the ship at Munkkisari Wharf on 23 May from 15:00 to 18:00. There is no advance registration for the tour, but participants must go through a light security check.
