CD Projekt, best known for The Witcher game series, has fired several developers.
The Polish company recently announced that the troubled new project Sirius has been given a new direction. However, the redesign of the new part of The Witcher game series also led to staff cuts.
The layoffs are said to be primarily aimed at The Molasses Flood, which Project Serious is developing. 21 developers working in the United States and eight developers working on the project in Poland were to be fired.
The project, known by the working name Project Serious, was previously confirmed to be a new part of The Witcher game series. CD Projekt has stated that the game offers both single-player and multiplayer, aimed at a much wider gaming audience than before.
However, it was stated that the game had to return to the design table, as the commercial conditions of the project did not meet the company’s goals for the game. However, with the new direction, the game is back in development, although apparently also with different goals due to layoffs of developers.
