Norway’s population passes the 5.5 million mark – birth rate still low

Despite this, Norway has recently recorded a historically low birth rate, as has Finland.

Norway’s population has crossed the figure of 5.5 million. The milestone was declared by Statistics Norway SSB.

The population of Vuonoma has been increasing rapidly since the beginning of the year. In the first quarter, the increase in the number of residents was the largest in the country since 2012.

Despite this, Norway has recently recorded a historically low birth rate, as has Finland.

The number of people immigrating to Norway from abroad in the first quarter was the highest on record. The country began publishing immigration statistics in 1997.

Statistics Finland SSB estimates that the rapid growth of the population is due to the “flood” of people from Ukraine.

At least for the time being, Finland has slightly more people than Norway. At the end of January, our population was reported to be a little under 5.57 million.
