The Call of Duty map Shipment is one of the most popular multiplayer areas in the game series. It has been included in several parts of the series, but only now have the developers revealed that it should never have ended up in the official release.
The shipment was accidentally released in 2007 as part of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In an interview with Dexerto, Infinity Ward’s Geoff Smith says that the map being part of the game was completely coincidental and was actually an accident.
Originally, Shipment was intended as a split-screen map, but it was also used in internal tests on the traditional multiplayer side. However, the person in charge of multiplayer at the time forgot to remove the map from the game before its official release, and the rest is history.
