Researchers discover strange and mysterious sounds beneath the surface of a peaceful pond. The University of Bristol conducted a study in which they collected 840 hours of sound from five ponds in South West England. Hearing acoustics has been studied in birds, rainforests, and marine mammals in the ocean, but freshwater acoustics have hardly been studied. The purpose of the method is to study the ecosystem and attempt to prevent the loss of species.
