The Ostrobothnia Rescue Service considers the arson to be dangerous, as many families with children live in the area.
Families in Ostrobothnia experienced a terrible surprise on Tuesday when the climbing structure of a newly built playground in Mustasari Sepankila, Ostrobothnia, was destroyed in a fire.
The fresh playground was gutted in open flames and the plume of smoke rising from it could be seen as far as the fire station, a few kilometers away.
When the fire brigade arrived nothing could be done to save the playground.
When we got here it was completely burning, says Kimmo Tuiscu, fire supervisor of the Ostrobothnia Rescue Service.
According to Tuiscu, there is no ambiguity about the cause of the fire. Climbing frames do not catch fire on their own.
– Either it was ignited on purpose – or it was lightning. I can’t say anything more here, Tuiscu says briefly.

The playground burned so fiercely that the plastic tube slide that was five meters away had time to melt in the flames.
Otherwise, the fire was confined to one and only one play stand and was quickly doused.
A large crowd gathered around the fire and extinguishing work, but the rescue service has no information about the people who started the fire.
Tiscu finds the vandalism troubling, as many families with children live in the area. Now their joy is one less playground.
He sends hearty congratulations to the arsonists.
After all, it is also paid from tax money. Parents or the smoker himself will think about this later.
