A sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins would not be made following the death of the director.
Ivan Reitman, the director best known for the Ghostbusters movies, passed away last February. He was to direct the sequel to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito’s 1988 Twins.
The sequel to the film named Triplets ie Identical Triplets will apparently not be made at all.
Schwarzenegger talked about it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. According to him, the reason for the stalling of the film is Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman. The younger Reitman is best known as the director of the 2021 film Ghostbusters: Afterlife, among other things.
“Jason Reitman screwed up the whole thing! He literally shelved the project after his father died. I was eager to make the film, as were the late Ivan Reitman and Danny DeVito. We had the financing and everything ready.” After his father died, Jason said he was never excited about the sequel and dropped it. Right now we’re working on another film with Danny,” says Schwarzenegger.
FUBAR, the first TV series of Schwarzenegger’s career, will be available on Netflix on May 25. In addition to the action comedy, there will also be a three-part Arnold documentary, which will be shown on the service on June 7th.
