Police in East Ushima monitored the operation of security companies at shops and shopping centers in their area for a few days last week.
Between 9 and 11 May 2023, shops and shopping centers were inspected in Vantaa, Porvoo, Hyvinka, Järvenpää, Lovisa and Sipu. There were 44 items in total.
In supervision, special attention was paid to the actions of the guards in arrest situations and at the shops arrest facilities.
According to commissioner Juha Jürinen, nothing remarkable or unusual was observed in the store guard’s activities during the inspection.
– The operating instructions were clear to all, and, for example, suspects of snooping were properly dealt with on the spot and cooperation with the police was effective. More than 100 pickpockets have been caught in some large stores this year alone, Jurinen says in a police release, so the work of security guards is very important in these cases.
