Russia has frozen the bank accounts of Finnish embassies – Haavisto: the safety of the staff is being monitored

There are two Finnish missions in Russia.

Russia has frozen the accounts of embassies in Russia, confirms Pekka Haavisto (green), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Administration. Accounts have been frozen and cannot be used.

The freezing of bank accounts of Finnish missions in Russia was reported on 27 April and Finland gave a note to Russia on 4 May. So far no official explanation has been received from Russia.

Representatives of other EU countries have also had problems handling paid traffic.

– It appears that flirting is involved, Haavisto assessed at the press conference held on Wednesday.

According to Haavisto, diplomatic relations between Russia and Finland are still unchanged. The Foreign Minister also assured that the safety of the employees is Finland’s number one priority and will be monitored.

There are two Finnish embassies in Russia, an embassy in Moscow and a Consulate General in St. Petersburg. The freezing of accounts applies to both representative offices.
