The Legend of Conan movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger has been in the works for a decade.
A new Conan the Barbarian movie has long been rumored. It has been speculated that Arnold Schwarzenegger will return as the swordsman in a film titled The Legend of Conan.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger explains why the film has not yet been made.
“It has been waiting for the last 10 years. Fredrik Mamberg owns the rights. He came to me and said that he has a deal with Netflix and when we asked Netflix he didn’t know anything about it. It’s one of those crazy things. I hope he figures it out. I think it should be done like Unforgiven and let the age show. We have a great script written by John Milius and other people have done it. The story exists. Two different directors would like to direct it. But he has the movie rights, and we can’t do anything about it until he sells the rights to a movie or two, or an entire franchise,” Schwarzenegger explains.
Directed by John Milius in 1982, Conan the Barbarian is streaming on Disney+.
