From these starting positions, Finland is set to make it to the finals of the FIFA Nations Cup, the popular e-football World Cup finals tournament. Last season, Finland’s journey notably ended at the respective playoff stage, when it finished last in its tough preliminary group. This season, the “Penguins” are on an upward trend, and Finland managed to get past the qualifying round without losses.
Finland starts the weekend with the same trio of players that played last time. The playing lineup consists of Jesse “kosu72” Cosamo, Jeremias “jerkos” Cosamo and Anton “anzinho” Corvenaho. In addition, Juuso “jtasku” Tasku completes the team with the title of player-coach.
On Thursday and Friday, a double preliminary group stage will be played, with the four best teams per group advancing to Saturday’s knockout matches. Sweden, England, Romania and Switzerland will play in Group D alongside Finland. Sweden and England (#12), ranked third in the world, are the early favorites of the group, but there will be a fierce battle for the final two spots.
