An entirely new kind of Pink Panther movie is in the works, and Eddie Murphy is slated for the lead role of Inspector Jacques Clouseau.
The Hollywood Reporter says the film will be directed by Jeff Fowler, best known for directing the video game adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog.
According to preliminary information, the new film will mix classic Peter Sellers comedy films with a familiar cartoon character. In the film, the Pink Panther is brought to life on the big screen with the help of CGI animation. The Pink Panther was a jewel among the original movies.
The Pink Panther cartoon character had adventures in the opening credits of the original films. It became so popular that it became its own animated series. The Pink Panther film series was later revived. At that time Steve Martin was seen in the role of Clouseau.
The film is currently in the planning stage.
