Jan Kuciak, who investigated the defendant’s transactions, and his fiancee were murdered in 2018.
A Slovak court on Friday acquitted businesswoman Marion Kocner of charges related to ordering the murder of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak.
Kuciak, who was investigating Kocner’s transactions, and his fiancee Martina Kusnirova were murdered in their home in 2018, Mafia-style. Prior to his murder, Kuciak had written about Kocner’s questionable dealings.
The case of Kuciak’s murder has been bounced from one court to another in Slovakia for years. Kocner had been acquitted once before, but was acquitted by the Supreme Court of Slovakia the next year.
Kocner and his suspected assistant Alina Zuzosova were again put on trial, and this time Kocner was acquitted of the charges. Instead, Zsuzsova was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
