The trio allegedly killed three members of the security forces.

Iranian officials said on Friday that the country has executed three people who took part in a month-long protests in Iran.

According to the country’s judiciary, the trio opened fire on the security forces and killed three of them. The men were also accused of belonging to an organization whose goal is to undermine Iran’s national security.

Iran’s protests began in September after Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, died at the hands of the country’s police. Amini was arrested for wearing the wrong headscarf.

Hundreds have been killed and thousands arrested in the protests. Last year, four people who took part in protests were executed in Iran, leading to a storm of international protests.

According to human rights organizations, a total of 582 people were executed in Iran last year.
