Game publisher 2K and the LEGO Group, best known for their popular toys, today released the long-awaited LEGO 2K Drive driving game. You can check out the game’s release video below.
LEGO 2K Drive is a large-scale, high-level driving game that combines popular LEGO bricks and open-world racing for exploration, building and creative fun. The driving game in collaboration and realized by Visual Concepts Game Studio by 2K and The LEGO Group offers the player an opportunity to build his own car and become a great LEGO driver for the championship in the driving competitions.
The driving game also features a significant collaboration with McLaren Automotive, known for its super and hypercars. Thanks to this, the game includes the McLaren Solus GT and McLaren F1 LM sports cars, which celebrate the 60-year career of the company founded by Bruce McLaren in top-class racing. These special cars have been brought in to be a part of the high-octane environment of Bricklandia to provide amazing moments for the speed hungry drivers.
Key features of LEGO 2K Drive include story-driven experiences in an expansive and open game world. The player travels through diverse Bricklandia, challenging race drivers who compete along the way but are, on the one hand, charismatic. The main character controlled by the player aims to win the coveted trophy of the prestigious Sky Cup competition.
The player can choose how he wants to progress in the game. Ahead is a massive world filled with driving races, mini-games, special challenges and collectibles. Worlds assembled from blocks are also broken down and, on the other hand, put together again. So players can collect familiar vehicles from different Lego themes if they wish. Familiar Lego themes are included, such as the city-themed City, creativity-fueling builder and fast-paced Speed Champions, plus many other familiar structures.
Driving in the game is a fast-paced experience that breaks boundaries. Countless different tracks provide great variety, and in addition, the player has at his disposal unique special abilities that can affect the course of the race and driving.
In a sort of Lego bricks, the player also gets a chance to customize his vehicles according to his own taste. There are over a thousand different LEGO bricks with which you can tune and adjust your car in the most exclusive ways. With the different blocks, the vehicle can be fine-tuned with many different colors, stickers and flashes.
Besides the engaging single game, there is also a co-operative and competitive multiplayer option. It is available on a shared screen, for example between family and friends, and online with other players of the same level. The game is also cross-playable between different game platforms.
The Lego 2K Drive has expanded since release with four different Drive Pass game seasons, each bringing more things to do and play with new content. The first Drive Pass season will begin on June 1, 2023 and will bring with it over 100 playable achievement levels and tons of new challenges. By completing these, the player earns season-specific rewards, the content and style of which vary from season to season. For example, the first season will feature new drivers, stickers, sounds, and other exciting customization options. In addition to these, Pelimelma will be expanding into an entirely new territory during the current gaming year.
Game seasons have no time limits, so you can enjoy the content they offer at your own pace and your way. If the player wishes to upgrade from the Basic Season Ticket to the Premium level, he may do so at any time. This way you can also earn special rewards retroactively.
Along with the original version of the game, the Awesome Edition and Awesome Rivals Edition that will be released include a different number of new vehicles, additional colors, and in-game Lego characters in addition to the original game. In addition, the package includes a season pass for the first year of the game, which covers the new game area, as well as four new post-release update packages with new cars and game themes.
LEGO 2K Drive is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles. The age limit for the game is PEGI 7.
