The collision caused serious delays in train traffic.
A passenger train derailed after hitting cows in a wooded area outside the town of Haraljungen in western Gotland, Sweden.
There were 19 passengers in the train. He was not hurt in the collision.
First an ambulance and a police patrol were called to the scene.
– We have buses on the way to help evacuate passengers. Göteborgs-Posten explains that the derailment was caused by a collision with cows that entered the track for an unknown reason, said Isabelle Rosendahl, spokeswoman for Westraffik responsible for traffic in western Göranmaa.
The Swedish Transport Agency cut off power while passengers were evacuated.
– Many cows were dead. “We’ve done a little clean-up, but the rescue service has started to leave the area,” Lydia Bredarik of the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service said at 9:30 a.m.
Due to the collision, train service between Vedam and Heraljunga and Vedam and Varberg had to be suspended. The effect applies to both local and regional trains.
Jonas Olsson, press officer for the Swedish state railways, told Göteborgs-Posten that the power outage caused serious delays to train traffic.
Trains running between Gothenburg and Stockholm pass through the Haraljangan Group, which is why many trains are late.
