Kalle Rowanpera goes into Saturday with a calm mind.
i turn it on
The gap between Calle Rowanpera and Sébastien Ogier, who leads the Safari Rally, is 22.8 seconds after Friday. Third Toyota driver Elfyn Evans is 20.7 seconds behind Rowanpera.
Ogier fled, but the reason later became clear. The Frenchman only put a spare tire on his car, which meant a 20 kg advantage, but it was quite a risky choice.
I couldn’t do much more today. I didn’t know about SEBI’s tire strategy. The way was clear for him because he had come far behind. There really was nothing else to do. A perfect day, Rowanpera joked in the interview.

If the first real race day was tough for the cars, there would be racing on Saturday as well. Patience is still the best recipe for success.
Tomorrow will be very challenging. Today’s race was really tough for the car and the tyres. Two long shots, so anything can still happen.
Rowanpera was quite satisfied with his performance.
– Took a little more damage than I expected, but still drove well. If tomorrow looks good, we can start to retaliate a bit.

Seb is driving with a spare wheel and terrible “coughing”, so what if.
Ogier and Rowanpera have won once each in Kenya, so it will be a battle of the titans till the end.
On Saturday, Rowanpera no longer needed to clear the road, so was equal on points with Ogier.
– Seb is driving with a spare wheel and terrible “coughing”, so what happened. Let’s see how much risk he is willing to take tomorrow and try to go ahead without any problems himself, Rowanpera plans.
Saturday is the longest day of the rally: six special stages and 150 EK kilometers.
