According to police, the most serious situation on Friday occurred on Road 51 in Inku. The unfortunate series of events began around seven in the evening, when a driver headed to Hanko collided with a deer. Right behind, a driver heading towards Helsinki drove towards the same animal on the side of the road.
After collisions, drivers park their vehicles on the side of the road along the lane leading to Hanko to ascertain the situation and each other’s condition. While the two were standing on the side of the road, a third motorist drove at high speed and crashed into cars in the park.
The forceful impact sent both cars into motion, resulting in one car hitting the other driver standing on the side of the road. He was thrown from the car onto the side of the road and suffered injuries that required hospital treatment.
Police suspect the driver who caused the collision of committing the offense of endangering traffic safety, driving while intoxicated, causing serious injury and drug abuse. According to Commissioner Hannu Kontola, the same driver had time to create several dangerous situations even before the collision that ended the trip.
